I normally get mine at spotlight but would like to start getting it online. Can anyone suggest some good places to find it? I don't want to spend too much either.
Is there anywhere from the US that is good? Seeing as the dollar is really good at the moment.
I usually get mine from Spotlight too. I haven't purchased any from OS but over here there are sites like Duckcloth, Kelani Fabric that has gorgeous fabrics!
I try and get most of mine at Spotlight, even if it is an hour away!
There is a business called The OzMaterialgirls (on FB and just a general website) which has a great range of fabric. I've bought some off them before. They have a spinoff FB page calle TOMG's $1 Auctions which lists all their sales (auctions and buy it now sales). I've found that they sell most of their fabrics by the yard/half yard, and when you compare it to buying by the metre (from Spotlight) it can get fairly exxy depending on how much fabric you actually need.
ETA: a couple of others are Funky Fabrix and Bubbamia fabrics, both have FB pages.
Caution with Ozmaterialgirls - I have had stuff go "missing" in the post, and they pretty much don't want to know.
I get a lot of stuff at reverse garbage (brissy) and local op shops, and just keep an eye out. My friends know and they give me stuff that they find. I like it that way; it forces me to be really creative, because I'm at the point where buying a pattern and choosing some fabric just isn't challenging enough anymore.
I have my favourite stores, and with the exchange rate atm it is insanely cheap in comparrison to Aus Stores who stock the same designer fabrics, I pay $7-$8 a yard plus $13.45 psotage for 6-7 yards and it is here within 4-5 days
for stuff for DD I love fatquartershop. The only downside is that postage is per $60 spend - so if you only want one thing it is a bit exxie - but I just use it as an excuse to stock up
They have a great range of novelty prints - I am currently deciding how much Dr Suess and Spot the dog clothing one kid needs
So far, I've bought from Spotlight and bubbamia fabrics (Facebook). Have been browsing Etsy but DH is encouaging me to use up my stash before buying any more I have a pile of quilt squares that I'm supposed to be turning into a quilt for DD.
Ebay...I use a few different sellers form the US (I'll pop some link's on your FB page later babe)
Melbel put me onto equilter (noice nom nom nom)
SPotlight
Lincraft (OMG I got the most gorgeous fabricc there today for a pressy)
and my local fabric store
ETA - oz material girls...I find them a little to $$$ especially when they sell 1m of fabric for $26m and I can get it for $6 a yard on ebay with $15postage for up to 6 yards with some sellers
I tend to recycle old fabrics, and I design my own and buy some on spoonflower (you upload your own designs, or buy other designers) it isn't cheap but I don't make whole items from it just use bits and pieces as embellishments. I am interested to see what people do for their next contest which is to design, cut & sew pattern for a Christmas stocking. Some people design on spoonflower and then sell the fabric on etsy.
